12 Ways to Create Your Own Luck Infographic with Bird Shamrock

For many of us (in the northern hemisphere) March heralds spring. We think about freshening up, getting outside – and starting new tasks.

So, this week, we’ve been thinking about spring, projects and what leads to success – combined with the idea of creating your own luck (inspired by St Patrick’s Day).

Some interesting facts about St Patrick’s Day

March 17 is celebrated by many, all over the world, as St Patrick’s Day. According to Wikipedia, St Patrick’s Day is celebrated in more countries than any other national festival, although of late it has received criticism for being commercialised and spreading negative stereotypes of the Irish.

St Patrick’s day is a celebration of Irish culture and heritage as well as a commemoration of St Patrick himself. Importantly, on St Patrick’s Day the restrictions on eating and drinking alcohol for Lent were lifted – which explains why there is so much feasting and drinking on the day itself!

Finally, it’s believed that the three lobed Shamrock leaf was used by St Patrick to explain the idea of the Holy Trinity to the pagans. And at the end of St Patrick’s Day some people “wet the shamrock” by placing it at the bottom of a glass and making a toast. They then either swallow the shamrock with their drink or toss it over their shoulder “for luck”.

Use your journal to answer these questions, or simply ponder:

  1. Which tip about making your own luck:
    1. Most RESONATES with you?
    2. Most UNSETTLES you?
  2. The tip that most RESONATES with you is within your comfort zone. Great!
    • How can you do more of this?
  3. The tip that most UNSETTLES you is an area for you to “stretch” into (after all we can’t grow without discomfort).
    • Keep this tip in mind over the next week, or perhaps write it out on a post it and carry it with you.
    • Notice when this ‘unsettling’ tip applies in your life. For example: Did you ignore your intuition, say “Yes” when you should have said “No” or make excuses to yourself rather than doing something? Did you allow yourself to get distracted (again)?
    • Remember to be kind to yourself – always. Just NOTICE.
    • Lastly, what are some IDEAS you’ve been having, of changes you could make in your life around this tip – however small?
